Haunted Mansion RideThe Haunted Mansion ride is one of the most popular Disney World rides. The experience begins even before you walk into the building, with silly tombstones and a howling werewolf as background music. Your "Doom Buggy" takes you through an amazing display of audio and visual effects. From the hologrammed ghosts and floating candlesticks, to the spooky graveyard. Even though the video does a nice job recreating the experience, there is nothing like being there experiencing all the special effects.
7 minutes, 28 seconds Ages 3-6- Kids under three shouldn't get the underlying "spookiness" of the ride. There isn't any screaming or loudness that would alarm young kids. I found once my kids hit age 3 or so, they became more aware of the spooky factor. Most kids ages 3-6 should be able to enjoy it without becoming too frightened. The effects are more "cool" than scary, so it shouldn't be too much. Kids that are afraid of the dark should avoid this one. If that's the case, consider the "kid-swap" option where one parent rides with the older kids. When that parent exits, they "swap" kids. Disney allows the other parent to board and go through the ride without waiting in line twice. Ages 6-10- This is a must see for this age group. They enjoy the spooky nature of the effects like floating candlesticks and the hologrammed dancing ghosts. Ages 11 and up- Everyone pre-teen to adult absolutely loves this ride. Adult enjoy the effects just as much as the kids. The more scientific types wonder "How did they do that" and the others just enjoy the fun!
