The Kilimanjaro Safari ride is probably Animal Kingdom's signature attraction. This ride takes you by jeep through an African safari complete with all the wild animals you would expect: lions, cheetahs, ostriches, rhinos, warthogs, and many more.
The only drawback to this ride is you can't be sure when or if you will see particular animals. They may or may not make appearances during your particular trek through the safari. While you have a better shot at seeing lots of animals in the morning, some prefer later in the afternoon sun. Ask the tour guides once you arrive to find out the best times to see your favorite African animals.
Check out this video below to see what it's like at the Kilimanjaro Safari ride. Even though the video does a nice job recreating the experience, there is nothing like being there experiencing all the special effects.
Be sure to check out the age recommendations below.
Ages 3-6- Kids love touring in the jeeps and seeing all the animals. For this age, it's kind of like a big zoo where you don't have to walk around. The trek up to Kilamanjaro Safaris is quite a haul for the little ones, so the jeep ride will give them a chance to rest their legs.
Ages 6-10- Probably the same as with the 3-6 crowd, it is enjoyable and a good place to rest.
Ages 11 and up- Adults really appreciate this attraction and how it is built with natural barriers to "fence in" all the animals. Kids 11-17 may not be as impressed, but they are not likely to be too put off by this mild ride.
