The Pirates Of the Caribbean ride is one of the most popular Disney World rides. Recently revamped in 2006, it now includes the animatronic characters of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Barbossa. The pirates are once again on their quest for treasure on this lively water ride. The scenes include an amazing first few minutes with running waterfall taking on the shape of Barbossa's face. Plenty of skeletons, pirate ship cannonballs, and stockades. Sounds like a scary ride, but with the light-hearted music and silly characters, it becomes only a little spooky. Amazing effects will keep you coming back!
Check out this video below to see what it's like in the Pirates Of the Caribbean ride. Even though the video does a nice job recreating the experience, there is nothing like being there experiencing all the special effects.
Be sure to check out the age recommendations below.
Ages 3-6- The Pirates ride tends to be a little scary for the under 6 crowd. If they can get through the first three minutes or so, it's really something even younger kids can enjoy. The first three minutes includes a lot of darkness and a few skeletons. The water ride goes down a mild hill, which can be a little unnerving for the little ones. When my youngest was in this age group, I just held him tight and he even asked if I could hold my hands over his eyes. Once you're down the small hill- it's all relatively mild from there.
Ages 6-10- This is a must see for this age group. They enjoy the spooky nature of the effects like being in the middle of a cannonball fight, and the blazing town.
Ages 11 and up- Everyone pre-teen to adult absolutely loves this ride. Adults enjoy the effects just as much as the kids, and marvel at the amazing animatronic characters. You'll have to see it to believe how much the animatronic Captain Jack looks like Johnny!
