Soarin Epcot RideThe Soarin Epcot ride is absolutely amazing. Not surprisingly, this is one of the most popular Epcot rides. You strap in what I would describe as a ski lift type row, and then ascend 40 feet off the ground. Facing a large screen, you feel like you are gliding over the Golden Gate bridge, Napa Valley, and Yosemite. You get a mild scent of pine as the wind blows you through Yosemite, and orange blossoms as you move through the golf course. You might initially hesitate about this one if you're afraid of heights, but don't. I'm a little unnerved by heights, yet you don't get that sensation. It's more exhilarating than anything, and works all your senses as you "hang glide" through these national attractions. Check out this video below to see what it's like inside the Soarin Epcot ride. While no video could possibly describe what it's actually like, it's a good general overview. Even though the video does a nice job recreating the experience, there is nothing like being there experiencing all the special effects. Be sure to check out the age recommendations below. I recommend these discount Disney World and Orlando tickets for great deals on park tickets and Orlando attractions as well as this site for the best Orlando hotel deals. 4 minutes, 11 seconds Ages 3-6- There is a 40 inch height requirement, so that does eliminate some of the younger kids in this age group. Younger kids might initially be frightened with all the sensations, but should get used to it within a few minutes. There are no drops, only mild swaying. Just like an Omnimax theater effect, if they become overwhelmed, they can close their eyes (although I bet they'll peak after a while). I was convinced that my then six-year-old would be scared of this ride, but he absolutely loved it. Ages 7 and up- This is a must see for everyone. Since it is so popular, you can expect longer lines. I would suggest heading for this ride first thing in the morning and getting a Fast Pass. Tour the other rides in the building and check back in during your return time.
