The Tom Sawyer Island Disney World attraction is located in the Magic Kingdom in Frontierland. This remote island is a perfect getaway from the afternoon crowds. This attraction is an adventure for the elementary age set- complete with forts, caves, and bridges that you can climb and explore. If you have a child that just needs to burn off extra energy, this is the place! Free play and imagination are key at te Tom Sawyer Island Disney World attraction.
The pirates lair on Tom Saywers Island is especially exciting for all those pirate lovers out there. It's perfect for a visit immediately following a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean, right around the corner in Adventureland. Be prepared to take some time to get to the island, since you must take a raft from the dock at Tom's Landing to get there.
Check out this video below to see what it's like at Tom Sawyer Island Disney World. Even though the video does a nice job recreating the experience, there is nothing like being their experiencing all the effects.
Be sure to check out the age recommendations below.
Ages 5 and under- As much as I like the concept of this attraction, it's really not for this age group. The kids can run wild and free, which can be a bit of a stress inducer for parents of preschoolers. If you're ok with that, then this attraction might be ok for you. It's also a bit difficult to get around with strollers (only foldable strollers can be transported by raft) and toddlers may have a hard time maneuvering all the stairs and difficult terrain.
Ages 6-11- This attraction is made for this age group. It's a great place for adventure and free play. If your kids tire easily, or you want to preserve their energy for later, I would recommend skipping this attraction. It is a good diversion from the crowds and a chance for parents to relax, but there are many more entertaining attractions.
Ages 12 and up- Teens and adults don't find this one too exciting. Especially if you've had your fill of walking for the day. Consider skipping this unless you have elementary schoolers with you, or want a more quiet place to escape the crowds.
